China is in the midst of concentrating power internally while expanding power globally. Its recent actions regarding the South China Sea, the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank and One Belt, One Road initiative reflect a deliberate plan to expand China’s sphere of influence. Though the economy continues to slow in the short-term, there are longer-term structural supports in place to boost China’s economic transition.
