David Hoffman is Vice President and Managing Director of The Conference Board China Center for Economics and Business in Beijing, aworld renowned, independent, economics and business practice think tank and business membership organization established in the public interest nearly 100 years ago in New York. The China Center undertakes pioneering research to generate improved measures, facts, benchmarks, and understanding on the highest priority China business and socio-economic issues. Based on this research, the Center generates unique insights and perspectives for its members doing business in China, and also convenes global business and policy leaders to improve mutual understanding, debate, decision-making, and commercial engagement between China and the West. David sets The China Center research agenda, leads major projects, and interacts with the CEOs of member companies – leading MNCs with a significant strategic interest in China – on their key China business issues and challenges.
Prior to taking the helm ofthe China Center, David was a partner and practice director of the TMT advisory practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers for over 20 years, where he served leading global technology and media companies in Greater China and throughout Asia. David is recognized as a top management consultant and China expert in areas spanning strategy, market entry, business planning, partnering, business model adaptation, product and service management, regulatory risk management, and organizational development.
David has worked extensively with leading MNCs at the senior-most levels on China market development, as well as with many of China’s leading domestic technology companies on strategy, business development and organizational transformation.
David has been living and working in China for 26 years and is a fluent Mandarin speaker.
